Why is the Vizcaya Museum a landmark?
The Vizcaya Museum is considered a landmark because it is a beautiful example of an American private home, and of architectural styles no longer used in building design. The Vizcaya Museum also boasts a collection of decorative arts and cultural artifacts that add to the understanding of American decorative culture.

A landmark is an important place/monument/building, that must be properly identified as such (and added to a to-visit list) by a host prior to having guests, so that said host can take them to see "the cool stuff". An example would be the Eiffel Tower in Paris, or Dracula's Castle in Transylvania…. A landmark is an important place/monument/building. For instance the Eiffel Tower (MORE)
A museum is where you can go see things of historical significance... although "significance" is vastly different for different people. Some small towns have museums about the history of the town, which is interesting to people who hold the town in some affection, and not so interesting to people wh…o have never been there or who are trying to escape to a larger city. :). There are museums that have specific themes... art museums are common, for instance. There are also Railroad museums, Tractor museums, Doll museums, Military museums, and almost anything else you can name. (MORE)

A land mark can be refered to as a conclussion or the end of a regeam of any thing it might be a counry ,a person or a situation that might be occurring in the world or country. In my own understanding a landmark of America can be termed as the END of America but with this no one can exactly predi…ct how the end results of America will be but according to me since America is prograssing in it's scince and technology if it uses it in the right way it's land mark is likelly to be a progress. However America is is so much engaged in wars and conflicts between several countries that's to say Iraq, South Corea amang others and so with this situation Aerica is likely to fall into the traps of its enemies in case it relaxes agood example is the blasting of the pentagon towers by Bin laden terrorists and some other threates that have been occurring which indicates that soo many threats are saroudig America so if it relaxes, it land mark is likely to be a serious war attarck that can even leed into the third world war. The wreck of Titanic is neither a museum nor a landmark (altho in1986 the Reagan Memorial Act was passed to designate Titanic as amaritime memorial).
That depends on where it is. If there is a single road in a vast stretch of barren desert, then you could say that it is a landmark. If there is a complex web of roads in a big city, then no one road would be a landmark. Think about the meaning of the word landmark : it is something that marks …the land . Therefore it has to stand out, be distinctive in some way. (MORE)

The London Eye was formally opened by the then Prime Minister, Tony Blair, on 31 December 1999, although it was not opened to the public until 9 March 2000 because of technical problems. Since its opening, the Eye has become a major landmark and tourist attraction. Since 1 January 2005, the Eye has been the focal point of London's New Year celebrations, with 10-minute displays taking place involving fireworks fired from the wheel itself. Big Ben is the nickname for the great bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, and is generally extended to refer to the clock or the clock tower (officially known simply as Clock Tower) as well. The clock tower holds the largest four-faced chiming clock in the world and is the third-tallest free-standing clock tower. It celebrated its 150th anniversary on 31 May 2009, during which celebratory events took place. The tower was completed on 10 April 1858 and has become one of the most prominent symbols of both London and England, often in the establishing shot of films set in the city. In the second half of the 19th century, increased commercial development in the East End of London led to a requirement for a new river crossing downstream of London Bridge. A traditional fixed bridge could not be built because it would cut off access by tall-masted ships to the port facilities in the Pool of London, between London Bridge and the Tower of London. Oxford Street is London's leading luxury shopping destination; a list of London shops, boutiques & department stores can be found at the Oxford Street London. Buckingham Palace was originally a grand house built by the Dukes of Buckingham for his wife. George IV began transforming it into a palace in 1826. (MORE)
