What is DirectX 9?
In Video Games
Microsoft DirectX (all versions) is a set of application program interfaces that allows programmers to code for hardware devices without previously knowing which hardware will actually reside on any given machine. The DirectX program does this by using a middle-man interpreter that interprets generalized commands into commands tailored for the hardware that is installed on the machine that the application is running on. Each new version of DirectX adds to the library of interfaces that the translator can translate to.

it is difficult to give a precise answer in a couple of words: the directx libraries are huge. However, the idea is that these libraries expose an api (a set of instructions) that allow game programmers to easily develop software. For example they don't have to deal with the particular aspects of ea…ch video card: that is done by directX and by the drivers. What kind of functionality directX expose: for ex. you have an image and you need to move it. Passing appropriate parameters, directX will do that for you. Also there are implementations for sound, etc. This is what one can do with directX. It is the bread and butter for game programmers that target Microsoft platforms. Make no mistake though: you don't get to do something till you spend some time studying. (MORE)
On your start menu, click run Then, in the run box, type Dxdiag The last line on the bottom will tell you.
Uninstalling DirectX 10 from Vista is impossible to my knowledge. Uninstalling the non-official DirectX 10 from XP is not. To so do, you'll need a computer that has whatever version you want to switch to, an uninstaller for 9.0 called UnDx9.bat, and an XP installation disc. Copy all the Di…rectX files listed by dxdiag from a computer with an earlier installed. 9.0c is confirmed to work. Override all DirectX files while in safe mode. Run a 9.0 uninstaller that replaces all your DirectX files from the Windows CD. It should replace your files with 8.1. Then replace the 8.1 files with the files copied from the other computer. Find the version number of DirectX for those files and find the registry values that the uninstaller adds to the registry. They should be in dxvfix.ini. Change the value for the version to whatever the version you're adding is. 4.09.0000.0904 is the number for 9.0c. Then run the latest updater for DirectX 9.0c and it should update some files. This should leave you with 9.0c. (MORE)
DirectX is a part of the Microsoft Windows operating system. It is a collection of application programming interfaces (API) that enable programmers to more easily make use of modern computers' multimedia capabilities. By standardizing applications' interfacing with the computers sound, video and oth…er multimedia subsytems, DirectX reduces the amount of code required for these applications to do their thing. DirectX is the primary interface used by modern PC games to access the multimedia subsystems in the PC.. A collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms. Originally, the names of these APIs all began with Direct, such as Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectMusic, DirectPlay, DirectSound, and so forth. DirectX, then, was the generic term for all of these Direct-something APIs, and that term became the name of the collection.. (MORE)

There is no ways to uninstall DirectX, it is integrated as a part of graphical sub-system of the Microsoft's operation systems. Officially, the way to uninstall DirectX is to either use System Restore to roll back to the time when you still did not have this version of DirectX on your system, or to …reinstall your system and then not install DirectX 9. Many third party uninstallers are also available but most of them are buggy, if you use one, use it carefully. (MORE)
DirectX is a set of standard commands and functions that software developers can use when creating their programs. While any Windows-based software program can include DirectX commands, they are usually used in video games. For example, developers may use DirectX for controlling video playback, soun…d effects, and peripheral input (such as a keyboard, mouse, or joystick). By incorporating DirectX functions into a computer game, programmers can use predefined commands to manage the video and sound of their game, as well as user input. This makes it easier for programmers to develop video games and also helps the games look more uniform, since DirectX games use many of the same commands. Technically, DirectX is known as an application programming interface ( API ), which consists of predefined functions and commands. In order to create programs that use DirectX, software developers must use the DirectX software development kit, available from Microsoft. However, most users need only the DirectX "End-User Runtime" installed on their computer in order to run DirectX-enabled software. The DirectX API is available for Windows software and Xbox video games.. This Microsoft-based technology was built to link desktop applications to the World Wide Web. Using ActiveX development tools, software developers can create interactive Web content for their applications. For example, Word and Excel documents can be viewed directly in Web browsers that supports ActiveX. While ActiveX is a useful technology, the downside is that you need to have a up-to-date version ActiveX installed on your machine in order to use ActiveX-enabled content. (MORE)
How do i install directx 9 because when it installs it always says setup could not download file please retry later or check network connection what do i have to do?
Okay, the normal download for directx 9 doesnt really have directx 9 in it, its supposed to download the files it needs when you run the setup. But it doesnt always work that way. . What you need to do is download the "redistributable" version. The redistributable directx download is intended for …software developers to package directx with their products, if their product uses directx that is. This version has everything it needs to install directx even with no internet connection & should work much better for you. It is linked below.. It should be noted that the redistributable directx is often included on PC game install discs. If you have a recent title close at hand, you may look on it for a "directx" or "addon" folder. (MORE)
There is no need to download DirectX for Vista. it already bundles the latest version of DirectX.
Windows Vista. DirectX is an API, not a program, and as such it has no specific requirements. To use DirectX 10 hardware features, you need a capable video card.
There is no need to download DirectX 3. Versions of DirectX up to DirectX 9 are backwards-compatible. So if you have one version, you can use games and programs that require a previous version. Besides, the DirectX 3 installerwasmeant to be used only on Windows 95, and would probably cause problems …if installed on later versions. (MORE)

Bad news dude - Microsoft did not and is not going to create Direct X version 10 for Windows XP. It is one of company's "suggestions" aimed in coaxing you to buy Vista. Good news is that DX10 doesn't really make a difference in real gameplay (only in screenshots). Another good news is that Windows 7… is going to be more useful and stable, and also DX10 compatibile, so just wait a little ;) (MORE)
I have load My Sims3 game, but Ican not run it because dirextx 9.0 is not there, that's why I need to install it from internet.
The correct answer is "yes" in the seance that only Windows run DirectX. Other operating systems run OpenGL instead, so therefore. Yes, you can view video without DirectX. However, every Windows system is shipped with some version of DirectX, and it relies on it to display graphics. So therefore,… Windows needs DirectX to view video. (MORE)
I try to play my Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Gold but every time I click the shortcut or run it says DirectX 9 is not found. How do I fix the problem?
If you still have the disc insert it in the drive and the wizard should come up and you could re-load your game and download it again

just download the program called KMDXC(Just Google it). After downloading select directx 10 and click patch.
DirectX was created by Microsoft as a means of handling multimedia within their Windows operating system. As such it serves no purpose on a Mac; unless you are running Windows on the Mac.
If you download your version of DirectX from Microsoft, it will not contain a virus. Downloading from untrusted third-party sites may or may not be safe.

No. Microsoft has not made DirectX 11 or DirectX 10 available for Windows XP, and has no plans to do so, as it is scheduled to be discontinued. Programs that claim to do this are either malware or are buggy and likely to crash your computer.
Check what promt error you are getting if any. Also check for windows update. And further you an directly download DirectX from Microsofts website
Some software you buy will come with the latest DirestX. Other than that, I don't think it can be gotten anywhere else other than Microsoft.
DirectX 11 is not available for Windows XP, and there is not going to be a official release in the future for XP. But you can do something to get your XP up to Directx 11 levels. First you will need a PC running Vista or Windows 7, and install DirectX 11 Installation files on those computers. You ca…n't download from Microsoft DirectX 11, or Microsoft will just make it look like you are getting the update files, but you actually getting the same old 9c Directx files. Anyway, from those Vista and Windows 7 systems that have a working copy of DirectX 11 on them you will need to look at 2 folders on those systems. One is in the Windows folder called "WinSxS", and contains the libraries, and the other is the "DirectX for Managed Code" folder located in the .NET directory, that also contains the XML libraries. All you really need to do is copy and paste the libraries from the Vista and or Windows 7 folders into the Windows XP SP3 directories. Let us not forget that Vista is also just Windows XP with a Windows 7 theme. So Vista and XP are actually twin systems. And the latest release of DirectX 11 is Vista and Win7 compatible. I have personally done this and it works great, and also the DXDIAG screen shows the Directx 11 installed in the system as well. (MORE)
DirectX 9.0c is not available for Windows 7; to actually install DirectX 9.0c, you would have to downgrade to Windows XP (any edition). In order to play games which require DirectX 9.0c without downgrading your installation of Windows, you must upgrade to DirectX 10.1 or later. DirectX 10.0 (initial…ly included in Windows 7) did not include support for DirectX 9.0c, a decision that Microsoft ultimately repealed when DirectX 10.1 was released. (MORE)
Never heard of it. But if it is a new game released within the last 5 years or so, then DirectX 9.0 will be needed.
You do not need to download DirectX 6.1. All versions of Windows from Windows 98 SE on up include DirecTX 6.1 or newer. If you have Windows 95, you should download DirectX 8.0a, available at the link below.
DirectX 8.1 is old and unsupported. You would be better served by upgrading your directX.
You need a modernized laptop to play DX 11 Games. Laptop graphics dont come externally only desktops can. Look up Alienware and they will have special laptops that are designed for gaming
When World of Warcraft is installed, it asks you if you want to install Direct X.(only if you currently have a previous version)
I wouldn't think you would need it if your Sims 2 game runs alright. but if you are downloading it then you will have to go into a technician shop and they should be able to help.
If you want to have DirectX 10 or maybe 11, you have to get a proper video card. DirectX support is not a software feature, it is defined by hardware you have.
Grand Theft Auto SA requires at least DirectX version 9 point 0 but you have version 11 so why won't it run I run Windows 7?
Probably because Grand theft auto has an operating system requirement that doesn't go as high as the operating systems now. Just run it in compatibility mode by right clicking the shortcut and select properties. Compatibility then run in XP
Why can't i run diectX9 games on directX11 laptop when i go to run a game it trys to install directX 9 even though it is already 11 is installed?
because certain point x9 games are not ment to be run with newer direct protocals
You can download and install the latest DirectX drivers from Microsoft website. Quickest install is using the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer listed in related links below. You can switch Google Earth display mode between OpenGL and DirectX (see related link).
Yes it is. It is VERY VERY VERY safe to use. And necessary for a lot of programs to run properly.
Yes - at least mine did ! DirectX was already installed on my laptop when I bought it brand new from the manufacturer.
DirectX 11 can be downloaded onto a computer by visiting the download site directly. Just be sure to double check that no malware is to be included in the download.
Microsoft is the company that created Directx 10 and therefore would be the best place to download it. There are other sites like 4shared that offer the download as well. Some sites like Qcentre offer the download but a person may have to register with the site prior to download.
Direct X 11 is best downloaded from the windows website. The download is free and you can be certain there is no malware attached as it comes from a reputable and trusted source.
When a person is gaming (ie. World of Warcraft, Far Cry 3, Dead Space 1, 2, or 3) it seems that Windows DirectX 9 works better than the current DirectX software out today. You get slightly better performance using DirectX 9 which is important to PC gaming. Also, there have been many reported crashes… on such games as Far Cry 3 when running with the current DirectX software today. DirectX 9 doesn't have as many crash reports. (MORE)
There are a couple benefits of using a DirectX 10 download instead of other options. The primary reasoning would be for the speed and stability of the download.
One can downlaod DirectX 10 from the following websites: Microsoft website, DirectX-10, Qt Centre, PC Games Hardware, Softtonic, Kioskea, Toms Hardware, Tech Spot, to name a few.
The DirectX software may be downloaded from the Microsoft Download Center site. By downloading the Direct SDK one will receive DirectX Runtime and all the software that is needed to create DirectX compliant applications.
Microsoft's website is the best place to download DirectX for Vista. Microsoft offers all of their previous versions of DirectX on their website, which makes it very easy to update an older PC with the most recent software.
