03 Mazda tribute with 102843 miles and it just recently started acting up as you are driving all gauges simultaneously shoot up and back down the engine seems to flutter while this is going on as well?

Answer prob low on coolant. More then likely though you need to flush the radiator. Because when you rev the system fan forces air into system and cools vehicle somewhat check coolant had this same problem from a leak in my water pump at freeway speeds and being a cool day ran great but during idle… almost immediate overheating 3 more things to check . Engine cooling fans are working - fuses, are plugged in, relays working . Radiator / cooling system flush - to be honest, I'd suggest having it professionally done. Find a Fall special at a local repair shop . well if it starts to die it could be the battery goin dead, that could be caused from an alternator or a belt that needs to be replaced that runs the alternator.. or it could also be something electrical.. in your wiring, you could have a short somewhere

Answer . There is no way of knowing with just a brief description like that. Use a code scanner to figure out what's wrong. The computer has stored a fault code if the light is on, so why not see what it says?

Those codes are for a fueling problem and a failed engine computer. You may need to replace the computer.

Answer . \nSounds like it's the torque converter to me..............it is connected to the flywheel of the engine and pumps the fluid through the tranny. It may have lost it's effectiveness to pump fluid.

The oil pump is driven off of the the engine itself. At idle the engine speed is low, hence the the gauge will read low. As you accelerate engine speed rises as does the oil pressure and your gauge will read higher. Hence the fluctuations you see. It is normal!

Fan . \nI would check the electric fan (if so equipt), when the engine stops the hot water is not circulated it needs the fan to cool it. When they get older the thermometer quits doing it's job.

Answer . I believe it has jumped time I just purchased a 95 ram 1500 4x4 for my son it has done the same thing it acts as if were hot or low on oil I checked both but they are good. Could be your MAP sensor or Absolute Manifold Pressure sensor same thing usually mounted on or near the firewall and has at least two hoses"vacuum" going into it.

Try setting timing to "TDC" No. 1 cylinder on compression stroke. Make sure firing order is correct. Should start at this point and then set timing from there

Try for a cheap fix and change your gas cap. Sounds like it could be vapour lock.

It may be a cam position sensor or crank position sensor. You may have one or both, the location will be different depending on your year, make and model.

You can get it scanned for free at any Advance Auto parts store. You'll need to know what code the engine light is on for. Could be as simple as a fuel filter.

Your head gasket could be on the way out if there is oil in the coolant or it is consuming coolant. Replace the thermostat before you start suspecting the head gasket.

If your engine is over heating it could get too hot and quit running, then start again when it gets cooled off. Otherwise, "something" got too hot and quit working, cools off and works again.

I had a '98 Bonnaville do that, among other things, run rough, hard start, missing & sputtering. A year or so after I got rid of the car(MAN, I loved that car!) i got a recall notice saying that the FUEL PUMP RELAY was being recalled. My 92 PA had a similar problem. Either the cam or crank sensor can cause this problem. If it is the fault, the error code can be read out from the computer. Mine would fail after the engine warmed up but would start again later.
Sounds as if you have a blockage in the fuel tank vent. Leave the filler cap off and drive around. If all is ok then you have a blocked vent causing a vacuum in the tank
Gauges are generally tuned to tension on wires, if they gets tweaked the gauges can easily become faulty.

A little more info just to help. I filled up yesterday a full tank and drove 30 miles mainly on the motorway and i looked and it had used 1/2th of the quarter marker. I got in today to go out and it had dropped to the 3/4 mark so i was driving and it started to rise up and was back on full afte…r about 15 mins. but then started to drop again and when i got in it was on the 3/4 mark again. is this normal? or faulty? I have a similar problem with a 2000 LeSabre. The gauge is OK until only about a quarter of a tank, then it becomes unstable, goes up and down, climbs, dips back down, and then, when there is less than an eight of a tank it sticks on a full tank indication. Found out this can be cause by a faulty oil pressure switch best known as oil pressure sending unit
Seems "for what i have read now" the the engine compartment wire harness is bad from the orange feed wire causing the asd (auto shutdown) to trigger killing the power to your fuel systems for a shot time. I have the same problem and am attempting to fix it shortly
You probably have an open or short in the electrical system. It should be fine for now but you might want to get it checked out, it will eventually just fail.
Most likely going down hill, the faster the wheels go, the higher the RPM will increase, for this to increase the vehicle either must be going downhill with no brakes applied or the throttle(acceleration) has been depressed.

A battery gauge "moves up and down" while running because of fluctuations in the voltage output of the circuit which it is connected to. This may be because of equipment on the circuit.
Not much info to go on but, if it is a GM product I would suspect a fuel delivery problem, either a fuel pump going bad or a plugged up fuel filter.
